GENDER SPECIALIST Ayantu has BA degree in History and MA degree in Gender Studies from Addis Ababa University. Currently, she is working as a National Gender Specialist at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Country office as a Gender focal point at both the national level and headquarter and handling women focus projects. She has served as a program officer at UN Women Ethiopia on Rural Women Economic Empowerment (JP RWEE). She has started her journey of work as a journalist at RF. She has worked as an assistant producer -Anker person/news presenter and produced different programs.

She has taught for 10 years in three high schools then changed her profession and started to work at Gudina Tumsa Foundation at positions of education program officer and gender officer. She has earned Bachelor’s degree in community development from Metro State University in the United States and came back to her country to found Tarkanfi Sustainable Development which was active for the last ten years in areas of education, women and girls rights, peach building, conflict resolution and humanitarian activities.

DEVELOPMENT / DISASTER MANAGEMENT Fatuma received her first degree from Civil Service University and her Master’s in disaster management from Semera University.  She is now serving in Women and Social Affairs Bureau as director of Women participation and mobilization Directorate.  Fatuma has participated in initiatives that aim to halt female genital mutilation in the Afar region.
