She found an organization called Save Generation Development Association (SGDA). The organization focuses on women and children and gender-based violence. She is serving the association for the last 14 years as executive directress.

She has served in the field of journalism as senior producer and editor of social and educational programs, women’s forum program, health program, children program, Behiwot Zuriya- a family program, Ethiopian Enkagnat a tourism program and Sunday morning and various other programs for the last 40 years. She is now serving as communications specialist in Ethiopian Society of obstetric and gynecologists association. Tsehay received an award of life time achievement as the best journalist for her contribution on world radio day which was celebrated in Ethiopia for the first time in 2019.
